This morning instead of putting on my long coat and waffle stompers I just threw a jacket in my backpack and headed out. The first thing I noticed was that the air no longer hurt my face. Then there was this blindingly bright light in the sky; luckily I had these darkened glasses amongst my artifacts from a time long forgotten to shield my sensitive eyes.
The corn maze of snow banks had been reduced to slushy speed bumps over which you could see other people walking!
OTHER PEOPLE!! The other people were wearing these lunatic expressions where the edges of their mouths were turned upward?!!?! It was contagious too, like hiccups…
I am so ready for the 2015 season! I’m looking forward to another year of this:
This video is made up of clips recorded throughout the whole 2014 season excluding footage used in other videos: Figawi and our week in Maine. Many of the sailing clips are from Destinee’s 4th of July trip to Nantucket (also where the fireworks are from) and the seasons last overnight from Gloucester to Boston. The Rogue Harbor Trip is prominently featured. The whales were spotted during our double overnight nonstop sail to Maine and back. Most of the sunsets over Boston are from after work sails as is all of the spinnaker work.
Destinee is a C&C 36. Legal Stimulant and Small Hotel are Cal 39s. Slippery When Wet and Whiplash are J/29s. All but Destinee are BHSC club boats. We put 1000+ NM under the keel of the BHSC boats in 2014.
The song is “She Was” by Seven Lions; it was my favorite song for more than a year and it will always remind me of sailing on the Boston Harbor.
